Paint like Jean Michel Basquiat

Jean Michel Basquiat was a talented artist from Brooklyn, his mother was Puerto Rican and his father Haitian. When he was young his mother took him to art museum and encouraged his artistic talent. He started out as a graffiti artist.

In his studio he spent hours mixing pencil, oil sticks, and crayons, making a mess of painting that people fell in love with. He believed that everyone deserves a place in art. Instead of painting kings and queens, like other artists, he turned his paintbrush to everybody.

We are using this two paintings as an inspiration to paint like Basquiat using different types of brushes, and mix mediums.
